Clinical Update: Finding the Perfect Combination for Multiple Myeloma, James Davis, PharmD, BCOP

James Davis is clinical pharmacist specializing in malignant hematology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and assistant professor at the MUSC College of Pharmacy in Charleston, South Carolina. He completed his training at MUSC and has worked as an inpatient and outpatient clinical pharmacist caring for patients with hematological malignancies for over 14 years. Dr. Davis is a board-certified Hematology/Oncology pharmacist and his research interests include myeloma and lymphoma.


New Drug Update: Eric Soong, PharmD, BCOP

Eric Soong has been with SCOA since 2007. Growing up Eric Soong initially wanted to be a veterinarian. After realizing that was not the right course for him, a friend suggested pharmacy. He found that this was a great way to combine his love of science and desire to interact with others. Eric Soong loves having the opportunity to interact with people in a way that makes an impact.Eric Soong is privileged to witness how medicine is impacting the battle against cancer and makes a difference in their fight. In his free time, Eric Soong likes to spend time with his family watching movies, traveling, and playing games. He also loves to eat!



Advocacy: It’s Not That Hard; Morgan Kelly, PharmD, BCOP

Morgan works part-time as an infusion pharmacist at the Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University in Augusta, GA. She was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2013, about 14 months after joining the cancer center staff. After completing chemotherapy in the cancer center where she worked, she marked her completion of treatment in August of 2014, after radiation therapy.

Morgan lives in North Augusta, SC with her husband, elementary age daughter, and their two cats. Working part time enables her to enjoy time with her family, go on school field trips, and indulge in a good book or five.


Advancements in Extensive-Stage Small Cell Lung Cancer Therapy: Integrating Clinical Evidence to Fill Gaps in Care, Stefanie Houseknecht, PharmD, BCOP

Stefanie Houseknecht, Pharm.D., BCOP, is a clinical pharmacy specialist in oncology. She earned a doctorate of pharmacy degree at the University of the Pacific, Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. After graduation, she completed an acute care PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, CA followed by a PGY-2 oncology residency at the University of California-San Diego (UCSD). She currently works at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Bayview Medical Center as a clinical pharmacy specialist in ambulatory thoracic malignancies. Her role is to improve access to oral targeted therapies, assist with the management of toxicities from these agents, and improve outcomes for patients with lung cancer. She is an active member of the Education Committee of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) and precepts pharmacy students and residents from schools in the Baltimore and greater mid-Atlantic area.


Clinical Update: Updates in Pediatric Oncology, Laura Koffard, PharmD, BCOP

Laura Koffard is a board-certified oncology clinical pharmacist with specialization in pediatric hematology and oncology. She completed her PharmD degree at Wingate University School of Pharmacy in Wingate, North Carolina. She then pursued PGY1 Pharmacy Practice and PGY2 Hematology/Oncology training at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Following residency, she oversaw Epic Beacon Electronic Medical Record onboarding, established a clinical pharmacist presence in the pediatric hematology/oncology clinic and the Hemophilia Treatment Center clinic, and managed pediatric oncology protocol builds. In her current role at Prisma Health in Greenville, South Carolina, she works to implement initiatives that improve medication use within the pediatric hematology/oncology population and foster relationships with fellow pharmacists, nurses, and physicians.



Clinical Update: CarT...Beyond 30 Days, Mary McGann, PharmD, BCOP

Mary McGann, PharmD, BCOP is a pharmacy clinical specialist in the outpatient blood and marrow transplantation and cellular therapy clinic at Medical University of South Carolina’s Hollings Cancer Center as well as an affiliate professor at MUSC College of Pharmacy. She is originally from Pennsylvania, received a BS in Chemistry from Catholic University in Washington, DC and then her PharmD at South Carolina College of Pharmacy – MUSC Campus (now MUSC College of Pharmacy). Dr. McGann completed her PGY-1 Acute Care residency and PGY-2 Oncology residency at University of California San Diego and UCSD’s NCCN-designated Moores Cancer Center. She is board certified in Oncology. Her current interests include CAR T-cell therapy and graft versus host disease.
